چکیده

Abstract The deployment of Press Hardened Steels (PHSs) in the Body-In-White structures that took place during two last decades is at origin a breakthrough weight saving on vehicles while guaranteeing safety requirements automotive industry. production parts with complex shapes and high strength between 1500-2000MPa was made possible by taking advantage hot rheology austenite combined fast cooling obtained in-die quenching leading to auto-tempered martensitic microstructures. In present work, PHS1500 stamped different thermomechanical processes promote lath-like microstructures (bainite, tempered martensite…). An innovative approach proposed link formed thermoregulated dies mechanical behaviour local ductility these materials crash-like solicitations. microstructure has been characterised through multi-characterization technique including light optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy X-ray diffraction. assessed combination crack initiation tests (bending, notch tensile test) propagation resistance (Essential work fracture). Despite similar microstructural crystallographic features, lower bainite martensite can lead very – compromise.

Microstructure and cleavage in lath martensitic steels

In this paper we discuss the microstructure of lath martensitic steels and the mechanisms by which it controls cleavage fracture. The specific experimental example is a 9Ni (9 wt% Ni) steel annealed to have a large prior austenite grain size, then examined and tested in the as-quenched condition to produce a relatively coarse lath martensite. The microstructure is shown to approximate the recen...

Nondestructive evaluation of residual stresses in case hardened steels by magnetic anisotropy measurements

This paper reports on a recent study aimed at developing the stress-induced magnetic anisotropy (SMA) technique for characterizing residual stresses in case hardened steel components. The results of SMA measurements performed on flat induction hardened steel discs with different case depths confirm the feasibility of detecting principal stress axes by measuring the angular variation of magnetic...

Transient liquid phase bonding of AISI 304L stainless steels with the austenitic and martensitic microstructures

In the present study, the effect of time and base metal microstructure on the Transient Liquid Phase (TLP) bonding of 304L stainless steel was studied. TLP was performed at 1050 0C for 5 and 60 minutes on the coarse grain austenitic and martensitic microstructure using BNi-2 interlayer. To prepare martensitic microstructure, as-received 304L was rolled at -15 0C up to 80% rolling reduction. TEM...
